Still Waiting -_-

I am still waiting to hear from the school to set up my observations hours but all of my paperwork is in and I requested certain dates which hopefully they will be able to give me. In the meantime I have been getting better acquainted at my job and have been building better relationships with my clients. It gives me an interesting perspective on how teaching will be by exerting the extra patience that these children need. There is a fine balance between scolding a child, speaking firmly, and being too much of a push over. I feel that being a teacher one of the most challenging things will be classroom management. I will be interested to see how the dynamic changes, helps me, or stays the same when I am observing, student teaching, and hopefully teaching children that are mainstream and are not classified with these severe disorders.

New Position

I still have not received confirmation from the school that I can start observing there, but I did start a new job working with children that have severe emotional disorders and I figured I could blog about that. It is extremely difficult working with these children because they have all been hospitalized for long periods of time but it also gives a little insight to situations that I will deal with when I become a teacher. Many of the kids have ADHD which is growing in it's numbers and is difficult to manage and control. It is challenging to reprimand the kids and make sure that they are not harming themselves or any of the other kids but while maintaining a friendly relationship between us. I feel that this job will help prepare me more for Student Teaching and for my future as an educator and I am ready and excited for the challenges ahead!
